Beban Park Community Garden Proposal

The Vancouver Island Exhibition is partnering with Nanaimo FoodShare and Nanaimo Community Gardens Society to sponsor a neighbourhood meeting to introduce residents to the VIP (Volunteer in Parks) program through the City of Nanaimo and to determine if there is a desire from the public to participate in a community garden. The meeting is set for, Sat, March 20 - RAIN OR SHINE - 10am at the park site - located in Beban Park behind the lawn bowling. See attached for a map and details.

Workshops on Raising Poultry in Your Backyard

The Vancouver Island Exhibition and The Nanaimo Poultry Collective are     co-facilitating workshops to assist people in setting up, raising and care of Chickens in Your Backyard. The City of Nanaimo amended the by-law in February 2010 to allow backyard chickens. More information is attached.
